Solutions - Our Approach

Unlike most of our competitors, GNS is not a firm with two or three technology solutions and a one-size-fits-all approach to designing and managing systems. We have many years of experience working for a variety of different types of clients and one thing we have learned is that what might work well for one organization can be a bad choice for another. A limited range of solutions also breeds complacency within the organization; technology staff with limited abilities are hired and are locked into a role that eliminates any problem-solving culture within the firm.

The GNS approach is not to focus on the technology available, but rather on the actual requirements of the client. All clients want stable, reliable operation from their systems, but what are their priorities and how do they see themselves developing over the next 2-5 years? Can we suggest and implement solutions that speed up processes they have in place? Can we cut the costs of some services without reducing the quality and reliability?

Almost all our clients completely rely on technology for their operation. They need solutions that are well thought out, solidly implemented and managed by experts who take personal pride in their work and full responsibility for resolving problems quickly and efficiently.

Within GNS there is a depth and breadth of technology skills that makes us unique - and not a little daunting for new hires! We emphasize personal development, and finding technology areas that challenge and motivate our staff. Our mentoring system helps staff through certification and practical challenges. This approach has lead to a team with a very impressive amount of experience and the drive to explore new technologies and turn them into robust platforms that help our customers.

At the core, most of the GNS technical staff are UNIX experts. We use FreeBSD, Solaris, and Linux every day. Over time we have also become experts in UNIX based databases like Oracle, Sybase, and MySQL. We have extensive experience with webhosting and web technology. We have more Advent Geneva UNIX hosts under contract than any other service firm in the world.

Our interest and experience don't stop there. Servers don't live in isolation. Networks are just as important a part of our client's infrastructure, and we have extensive experience in this area. We have been designing, building, and maintaining LAN and WAN networks through-out the United States and overseas for years.

The final pillar of our expertise and the fastest growing segment of our business is systems hosting. As clients come to the realization that they need a secure location for their server hosting they depend on GNS to help them implement cloud based or hosted solutions.
