The CrowdStrike Cyber Security software has distributed a patch containing a flaw that is affecting Windows systems around the world.
GNS does not use CrowdStrike in internal command and control systems, and the core GNS infrastructure is unaffected.. GNS does not install CrowdStrike on client servers unless instructed to by the client.
Some GNS hosted and managed clients have reported problems related to this issue because the clients have installed the software themselves.
GNS is working with affected clients to remove the patch and restore systems.
Any GNS client having problems should open a ticket with GNS and the GNS team will work with the clients on remediation.
The fastest way to remove the offending software is the following set of procedures:
1. Boot Windows into Safe Mode or the Windows Recovery Environment
2. Navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\CrowdStrike directory
3. Locate the file C-00000291*.sys and delete it.
4. Boot the host normally.
